In fact, it is not that you are naturally unsuitable for keeping plants, it is just that you mistakenly believe that keeping greenery mainly depends on talent. With our current level of effort, it’s not at all our turn to spell out talent yet!
Keeping plants is just like making friends, some people are naturally familiar and can make friends with anyone, but most people still need a process of socialization.
It doesn’t matter, we shouldn’t underestimate our ability to learn.
After simply understanding some basic principles, practicing more and “socializing” with your plant friends, everyone can become a “plant angel”!
Do these things and the plant killer turns out gorgeous
Most plants grown in soil should be watered as dry as possible.
There are a lot of points to keeping greenery, and it is important to include this in the first one. Because too many people like to water the flowers when there is nothing else to do.
There is a kind of watering called “depending on the mood”. If you are in a good mood, water more, if you are not in a good mood, water less.
There is a kind of watering called “I think you short of water”, found it leaves yellow, water! When it grows slowly, water it! The flower withered, watering!
The correct watering is to see dry and wet, not half watered, and do not water randomly.
Dry also do not need to dry through, soil surface 5cm or so has been dry, basic watering. Watering to water thoroughly, to see the bottom of the water flow out.
In fact, do this point, raising flowers will be half successful. If you want to upgrade, is to change “depends on their mood” to “depends on the nature of the plant”.
Drought-loving plants: Plants native to Africa or deserts that are watered once a month.
Humidity-loving plants: native to the tropical and subtropical rainforest plants, such as duckweed, asters, the water demand is relatively large, the need to keep the soil slightly moist.
Neutral plants: monarchs, longevity flowers, gardenias, potted plants moon season, and hanging orchids, bamboos, basic once a week, see dry and wet is good.
Give your plants a suitable environment
A plant is a product of its environment. You can care for it from five angles: sunlight, ventilation, temperature, humidity and soil.
Sunlight: When you can’t feel it, don’t direct sunlight and don’t make it too dark. First care for a period of time to see the situation, and then adjusted.
Ventilation: relatively speaking, the current home environment, ventilation is insufficient, so it can be appropriate to increase some ventilation.
Temperature: The outdoor situation in winter is not within the scope of “plant killer” for the time being. Generally speaking, the indoor temperature and the indoor environment of human daily life are not a big problem.
Humidity: It is not easy to change the humidity of an environment. It is recommended that when you are shopping for plants, you should ask whether they are suitable for your region, for example, whether ferns are suitable for dry Beijing. If you have already brought home, a humidifier, more water spray, raised in the bathroom and other ways, or can add some humidity.

Purchasing with pots is a good option, and you can save yourself some heartache by asking the seller to cultivate it for you. However, they tend to be more expensive and less convenient to transport. If you choose to grow your own plants or move them to larger pots, you need to choose according to the plants’ acidity and alkalinity, water preferences, and nutrient requirements.
Currently, my seven plants are in the “sandwich” method:
Bottom: gravel (to prevent stagnant water and root rot) + coconut soil (cheap and clean)
Middle: garden soil (soil around the neighborhood field) or nutrient soil (leaf-rotted soil, pine needle soil, nutrient soil, add some organic fertilizers), the specific choice of garden soil or nutrient soil, according to the plant to see. For example, the field soil in Beijing is mostly alkaline, suitable for cactus, nandina, etc.; while the nutrient soil purchased online is mostly acidic, suitable for most plants.
Top: Coconut soil (loose, breathable, good for water entry) + gravel (for decoration)
Don’t easily refer to short video mini-tutorials
Do not always look at the Internet some with rice water, vinegar …… watering tips, not that these tips are not good, it is just that we are difficult to grasp the proportion, details, easy to interfere with the plant. For example, rice water can indeed adjust the soil pH, but often need to be sealed first fermentation, rather than directly into the.
Before we get rid of the “plant killer” identity, let’s honestly use water to water flowers!
The fifth most important point:
Find your plant consultant and ask lots of questions
You want to be a flower caretaker, but you also have to find people to guide you! Asking lots of questions is my biggest tip for keeping flowers!
When you buy a piece of clothing, you ask the seller what the quality is like, how to wash it, and if it stains …… Why wouldn’t you ask when you have a potted plant?
I basically buy flowers online and the seller is my best advisor. Even if you buy flowers offline, make sure you leave the seller’s phone number!
Usually the store will have a full set of transplanting advice. For example, less watering and no sun for a week …… Please make sure to follow the advice.
After that the flower is not in good spirits? What to do? Pat it! Not for you to pat it, but take a picture of it and ask the store!
